Dan Koukol

Mr. Koukol began practicing law in the Placer County Public Defender’s Office in 1987. In 1991, after acquiring an unprecedented success rate in trial, Mr. Koukol was elevated to Chief Assistant where he supervised the attorney team for more than a decade.

Over a 20-year period, Koukol handled countless felony and misdemeanor cases and accumulated approximately 2,000 hours of jury trial experience.

Koukol has been responsible for all specialized areas of criminal defense practice, including adult, juvenile, felony, misdemeanor, DUI, domestic violence, drug court, mental health court, conservatorship, and family support. Koukol has experience in appellate advocacy and federal criminal defense.

In 2016, Koukol was awarded the contract to provide Public Defender services for Placer County.
